A DC Solenoid Operated Brake is an electromagnetically actuated, normally-ON (fail-safe) braking system designed to stop and hold rotating machine parts quickly and safely. The brake works on direct current (DC) through a solenoid coil that controls the armature movement.

• In normal condition (power OFF), the compression springs keep the brake in the applied position, providing reliable holding torque.

• When DC power is supplied, the solenoid coil energizes and pulls the armature plate.

• This releases the friction liner from the drum/disc, allowing free rotation of the shaft.

• Once the power is cut off, the magnetic field disappears, and the springs push back the friction plate, automatically applying the brake.
